NEW WEB Association has initiated project entitled Development of New Art and has already for the second time successfully received the support from the European Commission - Programme Culture for this international project, which is twisting the new vital spiral of the European Performing Arts with special attention to the strings of Performance, Dance, Physical theatre, Visual Art, New Media, Street Art and New Theatre Art.
NEW WEB Association, as the main coordinator and leader of the DNA project, connects people and organizations to make creative art and live art an organic part of everyday life. By supporting creativity and free action, we are helping to develop contemporary art and civic society in the Czech republic and abroad.

is a project of the 8 European cultural NGO: New Web (Czech Republic), BORA BORA (Denmark), Schloss Bröllin (Germany), L1 Association (Hungary), Fish Eye Artistic Association (Lithuania), Chorea Theatre Association (Poland), A4 (Slovakia), Glej Theatre (Slovenia).
DNA supports talented emerging artists in the field of new theatre art who:
work on a project basis outside the established network of repertoire-based theatres,
are on the edge between motion, physical, dance, visual, non-verbal, mimic and experimental theatre and cross over genres,
are seeking new approach in their work.
Main project mission is to support their creative growth, trans-national mobility and good professional reconnection with the artistic colleagues and public from all over Europe.
The aim of the DNA is to support new thinking, new ideas and creators; to create a gene constitution for innovative expressions, creative dialogues and free artistic choices. The DNA project tries to bring new possibilities of participation for artists of the Central European region, with a special view of post-communistic countries.
The DNA project will nourish the new vital genome of the European Performing Arts with special focus on the cells of Performance, Dance, Physical theatre, Visual Art, New Media, Street Art and New Theatre Art.
The festival will focus on the relationships between theatre and public space. The public space is understood both as an architecture, a landscape and as a society or a community. The main subject should be treated as an impulse to work for different workshop leaders.
DNA~LAB will primarily focus on art in public space.
Several-day workshops will contribute to:
artistic confrontation, collective creation acts and ideas sharing
cultivation of artistic expression techniques
thinker’s abilities and development of critical reflection
improvement of artist's personal creative capacity
DNA~LAB will take place in Warszawa in May 2010 with the cooperation of the local partners and also with the foreign partners announcing the workshop calls in their countries.
The Matrix consists of two components.
Firstly the DNA will support and give birth to a new internationally cast theatre project, which helps to improve performance skills and techniques and bring work experience with an outstanding creative personality. Main organiser is the L1 Association from Hungary. The project will take place in Budapest in March – May 2010. The result will be a new creation with international participation, which will give a benefit to the artists in developing their own creativity and skills and offering possibilities of a personal growth.
The second part is artistic residencies, a crucial component activity of DNA. We suppose that there will be four residencies in different partner countries during the run of DNA project. Residency means a short time of intensive rehearsals before the opening night finished by a performance or a work-in-progress presentation.
Helix represents several national show-case festivals that present the most interesting and important outputs of Theatre with Performance, Dance, Physical theatre, Visual Art, New Media and Street Art phenomenon. Festivals take place in partner countries, are based on a show-case character and present attractive bonuses from abroad; a production created as an element of the DNA platform will be a part of the program as well.
Helix finds its original inspiration in the festival Small Inventory (Malá inventura, Czech Republic), which has been taking place regularly since 2003 at the end of February. Particular festivals in partner cities introduce new creative achievements to both, frequent and occasional theatre-goers, offer an extraordinary display of art and help to destroy prejudice rooted in especially Central European laic audience.
Touring of projects will introduce the work of new young talented artists and spread the idea of new theatre in regions where no festivals or workshop are being kept. The goal of DNA is to allow selected projects to have more performances in regional partner's venues and in doing so to introduce new performance work to the general public of the Central European region. Performances can be selected from both Central and advanced Europe.
The circulation of the projects depends on personal choice of artistic directors of the region venues. We expect about 70 tours as total amount in partner´s countries within the DNA project.
This part of DNA platform is quite important for smaller regional venues, which would not be capable to present the performances on their own, without being supported financially, technically etc. Circulation of performances adds to the idea of decentralisation and European cultural network reinforcing.
