NEW WEB PRESENTS A NEW THEATRE PROJECT

Czech non-profit organisation New Web is a co-producer of a new international performance CASABLANCA THERAPY which was created by Slovenian director Bojan Jablanovec and presenting performers of four European countries. The opening of CASABLANCA THERAPY will take place in Budapest on May 6 as a part of the international project DNA. The Czech opening will be presented in the ALFREDVEDVORE theatre in Prague on May 18.

The Casablanca Therapy performance was produced by Czech settled C. A. New Web, which is also the initiator of the DNA project, in cooperation with New Web´s partners. For Casablanca Therapy is typical, as for the whole project, the international cast and crew and international impact. The director was selected by representatives of six cooperating organisations of DNA. They chose Slovenian director Bojan Jablanovec. Jablanovec led the Prague workshop in January 2010 where he spotted six performers – from Slovenia, Poland, Denmark and Hungary and then they worked and rehearsed together on basis of workshops and creative acting. What is presented now is a unique production-artistic creation represented on Czech site by main Czech producer of the performance Adriana Světlíková.
The opening of CASABLANCA THERAPY will be in Budapest on May 6 and an European tour will follow. The project will be presented in Ljubljana, Košice, Prague, Warsaw and Aarhus in Denmark. In the Czech Republic the project will be shown in Prague in the Alfred ve dvore theatre on May 18 and 19 and in Pilsen on May 20 in the Moving Station.

The main topic of the rehearsals and performance is love, not in the romantic way, but as a source of political power, violence. Love as a positive life power was changed into political and media kitsch or fetish of marketed pop culture.
The performance was created by an authorial method – creative work with actors, which is typical for the Via Negativa theatre and for Bojan Jablanovec as well who uses this approach in his work.

Workshop festival in Warsaw

THEATRE IN PUBLIC SPACE
Workshop festival in the frame of II))II\\II//\\

23-29 May 2010 /////// Warsaw (Poland)
The festival of workshops is focused on the relation between theatre and public space. The public space is understood here both as architecture and as society. Theatre is not seen here as a separated world, shut in a box, but just the opposite – it has reasons and methods to interact with the outside reality. During the workshops different kinds of this interaction could be explored. The participants will have a chance not only to try different theatre methods developed by experienced artists, but also to get to know how to analyze and organize theatre projects in non-theatre venues.

During 7 days of the festival each participant will take part in 2 workshops – each lasts 4 hours a day, one before the lunch break, the other after lunch. The practical workshops will be supplemented with a theoretical background. Every evening everybody taking part in the festival and anybody who may be interested in the subject, also from the city, will meet in one room. It will be a time to relax and talk, but most importantly – it will be an opportunity to learn about the phenomena creating an important context for the practical work. The festival will end with an open show of projects or works in progress prepared by the workshops groups during the week.

All of the workshops are open to different kinds of participants: students, actors, dancers, activists, culture animators, community artists, directors, cultural managers, critics, theatrologists, etc.
